The Otago MS Society is a charitable organisation that provides support and advocacy
for people living with MS in the Otago region. Our mission is to empower people and
their whanau living with MS to participate actively in their community in ways that are
meaningful to them.
Otago MS society would like to award a grant to health and allied health professionals
who are committed to researching Multiple Sclerosis. The grants are intended to
advance understanding about MS such as (but not limited to): preventing MS, limiting
the impact of MS, restoring what’s been lost to MS and building the MS workforce in
NZ.
All applications are judged on merit by our Executive Committee. The decision to award
grants is based on the quality of the submissions.
Grants are awarded in part or full.

Applications close: Thursday 30 November
Outcome of your application will be notified by: Friday 15 December
To complete the application process we ask for the following information:
- Your CV
- Abstract for your proposed research including an explanation of how this will benefit those with MS and advance the knowledge of MS. Include goals and specific objectives, hypotheses, methodological detail, sample size calculations
- (where relevant) and statistical analyses. (Consultation with a statistician is strongly recommended prior to submission.)
- Literature search for subject matter (ie has this been studied before?)
- Detailed cost of research including written quotations from suppliers for any equipment exceeding $500 (if applicable)
- A letter of support from your immediate supervisor or department head
- Research timeframe
- Publication plans
If you are successful in this grant application you will provide:
- A completed and signed ethical and administrative consent where this applies
- prior to provision of fundsInterim reports of progress as agreed in advance and a presentation of the research/study outcomes to the MS Society of Otago committee
- A funding statement will be documented on your research/study report
